COUNTRY HOUSE AT DENKANNIKOTTAI, HOSUR

Client: NRI Doctor. Project details: 2.5 acres, 3-bed  farmhouse

This country house was commissioned by a UK based doctor. The site is a 2.5 acre mango and tamarind farm. The client's requirement was a 3 bed house similar to his home in the UK and with an English country house aesthetic. Keeping that in mind, we opted to have exposed brick walls on the exterior. The monotony of bricks has been broken with white trims.

Though the plan is a typical UK design we have incorporated elements from traditional Indian courtyard homes. The house has sloping tiled roofs, verandahs, sky-lit double-height foyer with a U-shaped staircase and see-through courts. and the result is a comfortable, sun-lit farmhouse which appears to 'spring' out of  the natural green, mango and tamarind tree-dotted surroundings.
