AROUND THE GULMOHAR TREE AT CHARLES CAMPBELL ROAD

This house on Charles Campbell road is designed for a middle aged Bangalorean couple. We made an old Gulmohar tree the focal point. So the house was designed as an L-shaped building with the living, dining, family room and 3 bedrooms overlooking this beautiful shady tree, thus establishing a continuous dialogue between the indoors and the outdoors. Pillared, shaded verandas/balconies serve as extensions of the inside spaces.

A barbeque grill and landscaping under the tree creates the right mood for entertaining for this sociable couple. We also reused and rehabilitated their charming classical furniture to fit in beautifully in the new spaces.
