 Project details: 3 bedroom house, 3500sft, Adarsh Palm Retreat

When a middle aged couple who lived in the UK, Singapore for several years comes to us with a head full of dreams, about what their retirement home should be like, we listen, we try to understand their litestyle and pay attention to their needs and only then do we begin our process of design. The site is in Adarsh Palm Retreat, Bangalore where the entire layout is built on an old lake bed. Therefore, the foundations of the houses had to go deep. 

So when the time came to redesign and rebuild this villa of 2450 sft, we decided it wouldn’t be worthwhile economically, to demolish the whole structure. Instead we made the rooms bigger, by extending out and using pile foundations. In the process we saved a lot of money for the client and were able to retain all the existing fruit trees and greenery around the house…, something that the client was very particular about. The final result is a cozy house of 3500 sft with decently sized rooms, and a view of the greenery from every space. The style is contemporary yet chic with character.

As the clients were drawn to the colour ‘green’, we chose to use a shade of green as an accent colour in every room. To allow the green to shine, we decided to have walnut wood flooring, walnut windows and walnut wood framed openings. Even though the furniture is modern, the eclectic art and accessories that the clients had picked up over the years, all the little things and interesting pieces and art add to the warmth of the space..
