GREEN VILLA

GREEN VILLA, ADARSH PALM RETREAT
Project details: Site dimensions - 50' x80', BUA - 3500 sft, Adarsh palm Retreat
Concept: This villa located in upscale Adarsh Palm Retreat, Bangalore was built on a dried up lakebed; hence the foundations had to go very deep. So, when the time came to redesign and rebuild this 20 year old villa, we decided it wouldn’t be worthwhile economically, to demolish the whole structure. Instead we made the rooms bigger, by extending them out and used pile foundations. In the process we saved a lot of money for the client and were able to retain all the existing fruit trees and greenery around the house, something that the client was very particular about.
Materials used: This villa stands out among the rest of the 20 year old homes on the street, because of its modern, glamourous aesthetic. We clad the front facade with beige (the only accepted colour by the society) marble slabs, used glass balusters and wood handrails.
Color Palette: Respecting the clients preference for green and love for greenery, we used shades of deep green through the house and complemented it with classic and earthy neutrals on the floors, walls and ceilings by using walnut wood flooring, walnut windows and walnut wood framed openings. The result is a cozy, warm, comforting feeling.
Modern Minimalist Design: we have focused on clean lines, open layouts, and functionality. Therefore, we have integrated features like fitted shelves, custom furniture, and bespoke kitchens to make living functional and convenient. Even the new furniture that we chose, is not fussy and minimalist in design.
Textural Richness: we used silk rugs, curtains, and throws to add warmth and texture and displayed paintings, porcelain, books, and knick knacks collected over the years to add a personal touch.
